PVC Columns Specification & Installation Process

The quality PVC column is designed to install an earlier installed architectural post. The structural post inside the column, provided by others, offers the load-bearing component of the column. The load-bearing capability of the column is determined by the dynamic properties of the introductory post. An architect will define the load-bearing requirements of the entire post.

CUTTING AND FASTENING:

The cellular PVC plastic constructed by the columns can seamlessly be cut with standard carpentry and woodworking instruments. Pneumatic finish nailers and staplers can be used to secure cellular PVC parts together. Giant pneumatic constructing staplers and nailers are not appropriate for fastening this material. The collision of the drivers of these vast nail guns can break the PVC material.

The common thread, covered drywall screws are also proper for fastening cellular PVC Column parts collectively. Longer screws are also appropriate for binding the column cover and base to the building structure. Pilot holes are essential but not necessary.

PAINTING AND FINISHING:

Caulk where required using Siroflex brand SUO-SIL Urethane Acrylic Emulsion Sealant and Adhesive. Putty any staple or nail holes utilizing acrylic putty or caulk. Gently sand or scuff surface of the column with ScotchBrite type pad. Clean the surface of the column to eliminate any dirt or oil deposit with light surfactant and water, or use froth cleaner such as Windex. Be sure soap residue is removed with clear water. Apply one coat of high quality, 100% acrylic exterior primer, and one or added finish coat of high quality, 100% acrylic exterior paint.

DELIVERY, STOAGE, HANDLING AND REPAIRS:

Lift, transport, and handle columns with care, withdrawing extreme stress and limiting damage.
Columns should be managed in the same way as you would check finished interior millwork. Do not drop the columns. Store columns indoors in a secure place where they will not be exposed to damage. It is excellent to store columns in heat above 40 degrees F. Columns become more fragile in colder temperatures. Do not place other items on top of columns while in storage. Do not stack columns on top of each other while in storage.
